Dear Reception boys and girls, parents and extended Reception family
It has been my privilege to teach in Miri for the past 6 years and my heart was heavy saying goodbye to all the little faces on Friday, 18th July.
Each and every one of you learned so much in Reception and I know that you have a good foundation to build on in Year 1. I know that you will be very happy in Year 1 and hope that I will hear how well all of you are doing.
Lots of love
Miss Jacqui

Shopping Exit Point
Our little shopkeepers were very excited to sell the items they had made to their mums and dads. We learned how to give change and greet our customers. We made RM215.00 profit, which we handed to Mr Craig to pass on to the 10 Ringgitt Charity.
Happy Birthday!

The Beginning of the End (of the year, that is :-)
We enjoyed a delicious lunch today, organised by our class mums, Nida, Melissa and Rowena. We had pizza, chocolate pancakes and fresh fruit with a fruit juice. For dessert, we each had a personalised cupcake. Everything was beautifully planned and set up for us.
The best part of all was the personalised towel that we all received as a gift. It is something that we will use for many years to come and remember the fun that we had in our Reception year.
Ms Shirley and I would like to thank all of you for the kind words you wrote in our cards. We both love our gifts and will always remember this year as a special one.
Welcome!
We would like to welcome Nimue and her family to our Reception class. Nimue's dad is the new principal at Tenby International School, Miri. We hope that you will all be very happy at Tenby!

Krokop Market Visit
We are loving our Shopping topic! This week, we have learned how to shop. We used role-play to practise greeting the shopkeeper and asking for goods that we want to buy as well as finding out what the price of an item is. We took turns being the shopkeeper and then the customer. We are also learning about money and how to use it to buy the things that we want. Today we had the opportunity to try out our newfound skills in real life. We went to Krokop Market to buy some fruit. Our mums were there to take us around the market and help us make our choices. Thank you for the photos, Paula!

Pencil Grip Certificates
We are so proud of Misha and Vidushi for learning how to hold their pencil effectively. It took a lot of resilience to unlearn the old pencil grip and learn the new one. Well done, girls!
Dirk Scheele
We were very lucky to attend a concert by Dirk Scheele on Friday.
Dirk Scheele has been touring for 15 years with his cheerful music at venues in the Netherlands and Belgium. In his songs he uses various music styles such as rock and roll, blues, pop, dance, classical and world music in its own distinctive style, which he translates to the level of the children.

In his shows, Dirk brings his love for music to the children in a playful manner. He plays his favorite instrument, the guitar, as well as several other instruments. All the children in the audience participate fully in each song.
Thank you, Paula, for organising this event.

Tenby School Miri Opening Ceremony
It was the official opening of our school on Tuesday, 20th May 2014. We enjoyed the dancing and singing celebrations. At the end, we each had a balloon to release. That was our favourite part :-)

Thank You!
On Monday there was a surprise tea party for all of us to celebrate Ms Jacqueline's birthday. All our mums spent a lot of time baking treats for the party. We all enjoyed the treats very much! Ms Jacqueline said that we had made her birthday very special :-)
Sound Patterns
We are looking at the sound patterns we see in words to help us read. This week we continue looking at the Ringing Bells: -ing-, -ang-, -ong- and -ung-.
